Notifications — Always in the loop
Never miss an important event: a member joining, an item reserved, a message in chat. Olaf keeps you informed in real time, across all platforms.
To begin with, emails and notifications on your phone are switched off — you decide what Olaf sends you. Pop into your profile to turn on whatever you'd like to receive; your preferences are saved.
Notifications for every important moment
Olaf Wishlist covers all the important moments in your groups: group notifications (new member, member removed, role changed, ownership transfer), wishlist notifications (created, modified, deleted), gift idea notifications (added, modified, deleted), reservation notifications (new reservation, cancellation, contribution), and chat notifications (new message).
To begin with, emails and notifications on your phone are switched off: nothing goes out until you turn them on. From your preferences you open the channel that suits you for all these events, then fine-tune the detail by category if you wish. You stay in control of how Olaf contacts you, without being overwhelmed.
Real-time in-app notifications
In-app notifications appear instantly in the interface without a page reload. A counter badge on the notifications icon shows the number of unread notifications. Clicking it takes you to the chronological list of all your notifications.
In-app notifications are kept for 30 days. After that, they are automatically deleted to keep the experience fast and responsive.
Multilingual and customisable emails
Each notification can also be sent by email, provided you have opened that channel: it is off to begin with. You switch it on from your profile and, since the categories stay active, a single move is enough to receive every email — you can always fine-tune afterwards. In-app notifications, meanwhile, always remain active.
The email is sent in the preferred language of the recipient user. All emails include an unsubscribe link compliant with standards, allowing you to opt out in one click directly from the email.
Mobile push notifications
Mobile push notifications alert you directly on your phone, even when the Olaf app is closed — exactly like notifications from your favourite messaging apps. They are off to begin with and rely on two permissions: your phone's, requested the first time you open the app, and switching the channel on in your Olaf preferences. Saying yes to the phone is therefore not enough on its own.
Combined with in-app notifications that appear in real time when the app is open, push notifications give you complete coverage, no matter where you are.
